What Do We All Make of Climate-Gate?

First of all, isn’t it getting a little old that everything has “Gate” at the end of it? Isn’t THAT a conspiracy? Certainly adding “Gate” to anything taints the debate from the second it is inserted now doesn’t it? Doesn’t mean this isn’t a big deal, but it makes it too cheesy to take seriously for me when I hear something called whatever-gate now.

I haven’t followed this a whole lot, but I saw an article about Al Gore in the LA Times asking to take away all his awards such as the Nobel Peace Prize, Oscar, whatever and decided to bring it up.

Of curse you guessed it that someone has the Climate Gate urlalready. Even a .org to make it more “official”. They have a bunch of letters and e-mails so have fun wasting your mnonths sifting through all that as a regular guy.

It is pretty clear that there was a lot of fraud here. I’m not sure who ever thought that political types, or people that collect funds weren’t overstating a lot of things to get free money, but obviously you can hopefully see that now.

This whole thing is rather ugly.. On one hand we have a bunch of money hungry politicians, corrupt scientists, big business, and leaders of men talking out of the butts. This is nothing new. On the other hand we have science. None of those things should ever have any impact on what scientific findings actually find.

Yet, we are here now with millions of people having doubts about published science because so many people have taken it upon themselves to defraud as many as they could to fill their own coffers.

It is called a conspiracy by many, others that claim it isn’t try to ask the same questions you do in any conspiracy. Those of “How the hell do X number of people keep this under wraps for decades and some “hacker finally breaks the story?”.

Who cares about either side. That argument is worthless. There is no need to even have it. We have evidence that people were committing fraud. That is not debatable on whether it is a conspiracy, or not. It either is fraud, or it isn’t. Kind of like either weight loss pills work, or they don’t.

The bigger issue is that while some evidence that these scientists present may be forged, is it really evidence that Climate Change is not happening? While these men need to be investigated, and this whole “Gate” should be looked at, it doesn’t mean that all of a sudden Climate Change deniers have destroyed the notion that it exists, or do you believe they have?

Here are a couple questions I am interested in seeing answered after hearing about all this evidence:

1) Does this evidence prove that Climate Change does not exist? Explain.

2) Does this prove that HUMANS have little to no influence on Climate Change? Explain.
