55 Million Year Old Parrot Fossil Found

Surely, they have made a mistake here. We all know that the Earth is only 6,000 years old. I have seen it on t-shirts, and many other places such as this book called The Bible. Regardless, these pesky archaeologists are trying to tell us that these fossils are over 50 Million years old! Preposterous!

The fossil parrot was discovered on the Isle of Mors in the northwest of Denmark – far from where you’d normally expect to find a parrot. It’s a new species, officially named ‘Mopsitta tanta’. However, already its nick-named the ‘Danish Blue Parrot’, which comes from a famous comedy sketch about a ‘Norwegian Blue Parrot’ in the 1970s BBC television program ‘Monty Python’.

“No Southern Hemisphere fossil parrot has been found older than about 15 million years old, so this new evidence suggests that parrots evolved right here in the Northern Hemisphere before diversifying further South in the tropics later on.”
