Video Game Design

This was once my next step in learning. I planned to move to Florida and jump into a program and start a career in game design after getting tired of doing what I had been doing for years. The plan never really worked out because I got into a bit of trouble and wasn’t allowed to leave the state for an extended period of time (don’t ask…lol). Places such as http://www.gamedesignprograms.com are becoming more and more prevelant around the United States and it is much easier to find a good program than it once once as little as 5 years ago.

When I first started looking at these programs, I believe there were less than 10 available in the ENTIRE country. Now you can find a program virtually anywhere that focuses on this nearly $10 Billion a year industry. It really is kind of a dream job. You can do almost anything in the gaming industry, and don’t necessarily have to be a game designer. You can actually get paid just to test video games, which includes playing tons of video games for your job. It may sound like something you don’t need training for, but even just being a game tester requires quite a bit of education. If I were still in college now I would have definitely went into the video game route for my education. I did pick a timeless degree of Finance, but I picked the wrong time to enter the industry. March of 2000. If you know anything about the stock market you know pretty much what happened around that time. “Recession”, or more like a depression considering the lull that has gone on for the first half of this decade.
