Griffin iTrip FM Transmitter for iPod

iTrip

Do not buy this piece of crap.

I’ve had an iPod for a few years now and one thing is for certain a lot of the accessories are a rip off, poorly made, or downright terrible. This is one of them.

For the longest time I had just run with the old fashioned cassette adaptor so that I could listen to tunes in my ride from my iPod. Everyone always asks: “Why don’t you get one of those ones that will play on the radio?”. My response was always that I would have bought one, but the day I went to get one they didn’t ahve any so I bought a cassette and it works fine.

So I broke down one day and bought this thing with out reasearching any of the options of these, and boy have I been disappointed with it. The biggest thing is that I didn’t realize when I bought it that it connects to the bottom input on your iPod instead of the headphone jack like I thought these things did. I know there are those that do, but I was smart enough to buy one that doesn’t so it not only eats my battery, but I can’t even charge it while I listen. Since I let the thing run down to dead most of the time before I do charge it this thing eats the battery alive when I use it. At least when I had the cassette I could get my charge in while I drove, but not with this thing.

Another issue compared to the cheapie cassette is that it sounds like I am holding a pillow over the speakers. Same song with this compared to the cassette is a totally different world. CD quality sound my ass. Doesn’t matter what station you put it on, that is if you can get it to actually connect to a station other than the default one that it starts with, it sounds muffled. Terrible sound quality and I was expecting better sound quality than the cassette. The laugh is on me my friends. It sucks.

I guess you can get this now for 30 bucks, but I got it in December and it cost me $50 at Best Buy. Damn money and that hole it burns in my pocket. I usually research this kind of stuff before I buy it, but I was on a spending spree that day I guess with Christmas coming up. Figured I’d get myself something since I already spent so much on everyone else. This thing was one of my cousin’s first communion gifts too last month and I laughed when he got it. Poor kid. I didn’t have the heart to tell him, or my uncle that bought it for him, it was such a junker.

only if you’d spend a little time researching or had someone else do it for you it would’ve saved you a lot of headache. also always try google for coupons or deals etc.. i find when it comes to tech gizmos you can save a bundle online.

This is truly a great post and I am not just spamming you with that. I laughed my butt off. One because it is good comments and two because I know what you mean and it pisses me off that I have to blast my radio on my car and I run into audio interference with other ipods.

LOL…I agree. It is just worthless to me. I have been using the cassette again and it sounds much better than this does.
