Easiest Relevant Links Around

If you are a blogger you are always looking to get links to your blogs to help you with your page rank in Google, get a little bit of traffic, and anything else that comes along with a good link program. Typically you just have to take any links you can get and most of the time they have no relevance to your blog at all. Many people that want to exchange links from you know very little about Search Engine Optimization (SEO) so they may link to you with terms that aren’t very valuable such as: “here”, “this blog”, etc.”. These links help, but you could be doing much better.

Getting Relevant Links

When exchanging links with other webmasters there are a few things that make those links more valuable than just trading with any old blog. First is getting a relevant blog to link to you. For example, if you have a tech blog like this one, you will get the most benefit from another tech blog linking to you. Having blogs with the same kinds of topics not only gives you more traffic, but it also gives you a link that counts more in the search engines.

Second, you want links on relevant keywords. If someone is linking to your site you want them to link the the keywords you have established for your site. If someone were to link to my Wordpress Plugins page I would definitely want them to use a relevant keyword to do so. Maybe I would want “Wordpress Plugins” specifically. What if I wanted them to link to my post about the MyAvatars Plugin? This I could ask them to use Wordpress Plugins, but in that case I would ask them to use “MyAvatars” instead since it is much better when searched. IT is more relevant to that particular post.

Link and Blog Challenge

So what is the easiest way to get relevant links around? There is a website that I joined a couple months ago when it just got off the ground called Link and Blog Challenge. Now that all the kinks are out it is ready to be flooded with bloggers who are willing to do link exchanges, but there is something very different about this site and how we go about doing these exchanges.

This site utilizes a system that they call “challenges”. These challenges can be done in various ways in either Group, or One on One challenges. What is different about this is that the challenges don’t typically require linking to the same blog that linked to you like so many other link exchanges. There are various ways to do the challenges, but the most popular is just called the “Group Backlink Challenge”. How this challenge works is that a blogger will post a topic about a certain post they have written. I could start a topic about ChaCha for instance by linking to my post about ChaCha Pranksters, which I actually did here. As you can see there I was the first one to post so the next person wrote a post about what I made the topic for and linked back to me using the term “ChaCha”. Complete relevant link from a post that talks about ChaCha to a post that also talks about ChaCha. After that another person linked to the person that linked to me and so on. No one linked to a blog that linked to them.

They actually make this even easier as well. Many times there are posts you have that someone else has that keyword in as well. Instead of having to write a post all you have to do is simply link to that same word in your post to their post. They do the same for you and each of you have a relevant link in seconds.

The other great thing about Link and Blog Challenge is that you can search through the member directory by type of blog and hook up with a site that is in the same category as the one you are in. For this blog I can look through and find some Tech sites and PM the owner right there to ask about doing some sort of exchange on our blogs. We discuss how we want to do it and set it up any way we choose.

The possibilities are endless really, but one thing is certain. This is super easy and super fast to do. It is one of those sites that should be added to any blogger’s arsenal of daily tools. Head over and get ideas for posts, pick up a few links everyday for things you are already doing, and raise your relevant ranks like Page Rank and Technorati in the easiest way possible. I know I will see you guys over there. Stop by and check out my profile and get ready to exchange some links with out having to pay for them. Trust me, this place is an SEO machine. We just need to build up the community a bit and I am definitely doing my part to add to it. Help me do it and we will all get some fantastic benefits from it.

I was looking for months for a service like this, & I couldn’t believe it was free. I especially like the term challenge because it reminds me of the homestarrunner anime strong bad, “Is that a challenge”.

I like the concept of link and challenge, but the execution of the entire arrangement seems overly complicated.

Sure we are talking about building a linking strategy to execute on string theory but the organization of the site there is less than insightful IMHO.

I’ll try it but I wish they had refined it a bit more.

      Hi Jimi,
It took me a while to get over here! This is a great post you did about Link & Blog Challenge! Your support and enthusiasm for the project is much appreciated!

Like anything else new for people to learn, members have to be willing to apply themselves to get through the learning curve, but as you know once they do learn how to do a Link & Blog Challenge it is much like a word game, and a lot of fun! A very addicting way to build incoming links too! Of course that is the entire idea of the game. :)
