“In Vista, it is too early to say what the actual weaknesses might be. It is fairly safe to say that weaknesses do exist, that more will be uncovered over time and that even some of what Microsoft has touted as security enhancements have already proven to be vulnerable,” said Kaspersky Lab’s Shane Coursen.

An article by TechNewsWorld has gone into the vulnerabilities of the new Vista Operating System from Microsoft and claiming that it is “open season for hackers, crackers and virus and malware propagators.”

Just like any time a new Windows OS comes out it is extremely buggy and you are pounded with updates day after day as more and more fixes become available. I’m still using XP and have no plans to jump up to Vista anytime soon. When I moved to XP several years ago I learned an important lesson in trusting that the OS was completely reliable. My computer had tons of issues with it and the Service Pack 1 update that I got wasn’t too happy with my Dell laptop back then. I ended up having to do a dreaded system restore just to get to my desktop. Suffice to say it wasn’t a pleasant experience.

Vista is claiming that the level of security that will be incorporated in Vista is beyond a level that the industry has ever seen. In How Tough Is Vista’s Defensive Lineup? they delve into it a bit and give you quite an in depth look at features and possible security risks.
